In Honor of Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day I thought I’d share some of my dad’s pictures from his service in the Air Force during the Vietnam war. I love hearing my dad’s stories from Vietnam, I have since I was a little girl. I am incredibly proud of his service, and I am so thankful that there are people like him who serve our country and keep us safe. May we never take them or our freedom for granted. My dad receiving an Air Medal with Cluster.

    • I will 🙂 He does look so young! He was only 17 when he enlisted so he was definitely still just a kid. I cant imagine many 17 year olds I know these days heading off to war!

  1. I LOVED this one! It brought up a whole bag of emotions. If you remember, my father was a Marine and was also in Vietnam. Looking at all the pictures, of course made me think of all the ones we went through for his wake. Especially the one of your dad on the bike! My father would tell stories too, but mostly of the silly things that he and his platoon did. Like building a heated shower for their “tent” and having it taken away because the “boss,” as he put it, wanted it. Well they got him back by making a deal with the cook and got a case of green Jello. We’ll just say someones hair was green for a couple weeks. As far as the rest of it, he mostly just stuck to, “it was bad.” Most people will hopefully never have to see or go through the things our soldiers have or will have to in the future. For that I am grateful for those that do. People like our fathers…….. Keeping the memories of what has happened is the best way to keep them from happening again. ❤
