Day 4 was “favorite color” and I think it’s obvious that turquoise just might be my favorite color. Turquoise shirt, necklace and bracelet. The only thing that’s missing is my turquoise purse (the first purse that I have ever loved and boy do I love it) and a turquoise ring that I’ve been shopping for for the last year or so. Seriously, my turquoise obsession rivals my 5 year old niece’s purple obsession.
I think today was the most fun I’ve ever had at the state fair. It was so fun listening to my dad and aunt reminisce about life on the farm as kids. And I clearly had a good time in the animal barn. Who knew pigs could be so photogenic??? It was a great day with family, a day to treasure.
First off, day 2 and 3 of the 30 Day Photo Challenge. Day 2 was “what I wore” and I could not be happier with how this picture turned out. I love it! I’m just loving doing this challenge in general cause it’s making me think of how to photograph my everyday life in new ways. Good things…
Day 3 was “clouds”I’ve had a lots of creative juice this week but not a lot of time to use it, as will be the story over the next week or so. But I’m squeezing a few things in here and there. I dyed some doilies Martha Stewart style.Yes, these are the kinds of things this 29 year old does on a Saturday morning. But I’ve got to say, lots of fun playing with food dye and misters, and I’m looking forward to using them on scrapbook pages and the quote book I’m making for my friend with cancer. I also got her card finished.First, let me say that I can not look at this picture without cracking up, and I’m hoping it will have the same effect on my friend when she opens it. Could this squirrel be any funnier? It may be the best picture ever. I’ve never made a card with a picture before but this one just felt like the right touch for a friend diagnosed with cancer. Anyways, I embroidered around the pic, Amy Tan style. My obsession with her continues as I embroider everything in sight. Seriously. My fingers are killing me. I made fun embroidered tags Friday night that I’ll share on here soon too. And I got one layout done with the picture from day 1 of the photo challenge. So, pretty random post but I wanted to get this stuff up right away cause I was excited to share. The pictures look a little blurry to me on here and I’m not sure why??? They’re fine on my computer so I’m not sure what to do! Sorry! Anyways, I’ll probably be a bit MIA for the next couple days since my aunt is staying with me. I have some fun stuff planned for us though so I’ll be back to share soon 🙂
Yesterday I found out that one of my favorite ladies at the Cancer Center was diagnosed for the second time with breast cancer. I am reminded once again how precious life is, that it only takes one phone call, one doctor appointment to change everything. I am going to do everything that I can to be there for her, to use my own hardships to comfort her in a way that I never could have before. So, to start off with, I am making her a book filled with quotes and maybe some fun pictures to brighten her day. Of course that meant spending way too much time on pinterestand finding tons of great quotes and verses so I thought I’d share a few here.
I’ve finished a few layouts over the last few days and started a couple new projects. Finding time to be crafty gets tough in the summer but the pictures pile up. Lots of good stuff to keep me busy all fall 🙂 I bought Amy Tan’s class, Get Those Creative Juices Flowing, at Big Picture and it has done just that 🙂 I loved the mini-book she features in the class and I really wanted to make one so I decided it would be the perfect place to put the pictures from the 30 Day Photo Challenge that I’ve been wanting to do. (This is from Amy Tangerine too). I started the challenge today but I am not going to be crazy strict on making sure I do it everyday since I have a busy couple weeks ahead. I didn’t want to wait to start it so I figured the only pressure is the pressure I put on myself so I can do it whenever I can if I say so 🙂 I ended up with two pictures for the self portrait, although I have to say it is incredibly hard to take pictures of yourself that you actually like! Not exactly easy to get the right angle while in front of the tripod. I know this one isn’t really a self portrait but I really love it and it is such an accurate portrayal of me right now; enjoying time outside on my swing, reading, my little sidekick next to me. Love it.
Here’s the book I made for it.Such a cool mini-book idea. Lots of different papers and sizes, all bound with stitching. Amy Tan has started me on an embroidery thread obsession. I went and stocked up on all kinds of yummy colors today. Seems like I may have and Amy Tan obsession too… Anyways, I like that it’s kind of messy which I love in scrapbooking but have a hard time doing myself. I’m going to really try to not be a perfectionist with this book and let myself get a little messy. We’ll see how that goes… I’ll be sure to share photos as I add to it. I think this is the format I’ll use when I finally do the week in the life project (a project started by Ali Edwards where you document one week with collected stuff, pictures, and journaling) that I’ve wanted to do forever but never really knew how I wanted to do it. Now I’m waiting till I get my Iphone since it will be fun using that for pictures and will ensure that I always have a camera on me. Plus, it just seems so much easier and less obvious to snap a picture in public with a phone than actually pulling out the camera. You’d think after all the years I’ve spent behind a camera I wouldn’t be shy about it. You would think… So hopefully I’ll be snapping away after my birthday (hint, hint to the hubby 😉 ).
And here are a few layouts I’ve done over the last couple days along with my new method for incorporating lots of pictures into my scrapbook, 4×6 photo pages. I’m really liking them for things like vacations where I take a ton of pictures that I want to have printed but don’t necessarily want to scrapbook them all.ll.
